Fourth APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting

An APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting will be held in Kumamoto Castle Hotel, on 29-30 September 2001 and will be preceded by a two-day Senior HRD Officials meeting.

The Ministerial Meeting will be chaired by HE Dr Chikara Sakaguchi, Japan's Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare and hosted by the Goverment of Japan. Approximately 200 participants from 21 member economies of APEC are expected to attend the meeting.

This meeting will mark the fourth time that HRD Ministers meet since HRD Ministers first met in 1996. HRD Ministers will meet under the theme "Human Resources Development for Both the Advancement of Society and Economy and the Sharing of Prosperity with People in Context of Globalization" and provide direction to guide APEC work in Human Resources Development.
