APEC Film Week to Showcase Regional Cultural Diversity
A range of films showcasing the talent and diversity of APEC Member Economies will be screened over the following week at the Pusan International Film Festival.
Taking place from October 6th to 14th, the "APEC Film Week" will add an additional cultural perspective to the annual film festival in Busan with films covering a range of topics including social issues, relationships and historical themes.
The films that have been selected for the APEC exhibition feature themes that promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding among APEC member economies. The films also highlight the diversity of tradition and values that exist around the APEC Region.
The films were chosen by representatives of the Pusan International Film Festival who sourced the films in individual economies or at other international film festivals.
The Chair of the 2005 APEC Senior Officials' Meetings, Ambassador Jong-Hoon Kim, will host a reception on October 10 for directors and cast members of some of the films shown during the APEC Film Week.
The APEC Film Week is being coordinated by the APEC Culture Focal Point Network (CFPN). The CFPN was established by APEC this year to undertake initiatives designed to reduce the psychological barriers to trade by enhancing intercultural understanding, strengthening information sharing and organizing events to promote cultural understanding.
