This report explores the complex intersection of tourism with natural, cultural and historical environments. It examines the economic importance of sustainable tourism to APEC economies; the ecosystems that support tourist activities in those economies; the nature and extent of degradation to ecosystems that can occur if tourism is poorly managed; and management and financial approaches that can be used to achieve environmentally, culturally and economically sustainable tourism.
