The APEC Sub-Committee on Standards and Conformance (SCSC) establishment was meant to enhance and facilitate international trade, particularly amongst the APEC economies. To this extent, SCSC has adopted the Declaration of an APEC Standards and Conformance Framework which provided APEC members with a common objective in four major areas, which include alignment of APEC member economies' standards with international standards.
