Description

Improving Connectivity in the Asia Pacific Region: Perspectives of the APEC Policy Support Unit

The main objectives of the study are to: (1) enhance APEC’s understanding of the current state of physical, institutional and people-to-people connectivity in the APEC region, including the initiatives of APEC and other international organizations in promoting connectivity; and (2) identify gaps and areas of opportunity in order to provide strategic recommendations towards the development of an APEC Framework on Connectivity. There are three main components of the study: (1) Analysis of the current state of all three aspects of connectivity (i.e., physical, institutional, and people-to-people) in the APEC region; (2) Mapping of the regional initiatives on connectivity and (3) Assessing gaps and opportunities for APEC. This study will serve as one of the feedbacks for APEC to better define future long-term initiatives and objectives to enhance connectivity throughout the region.
