Description

The report presents the experiences of nine indigenous women who have sustained and continue to operate their micro-, small family businesses throughout the pandemic and as their respective economies adapt to the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 virus.

It is clear from their stories that there is a continuum of what being an ‘indigenous business’ business means.  However, their lived values and cultural knowledge as indigenous women and the centrality of family and community were highlighted by each of them.

Overall, economy and government-led COVID-19 responses, they reported, often missed the mark in terms of being overly bureaucratic and not responsive to their needs
