This report summarizes the outcomes of the FTAAP Capacity Building Workshop on New Trends in Investment Elements Negotiations in FTAs/RTAs held virtually in August 2021. The virtual workshop provided participants with deep knowledge and shared experiences on new trends and provisions, impact on IIAs, scope, and application. The discussions and exchange of views allowed participants to strengthen their capacity to engage on important topics, such as the right to regulate, responsible business conduct, small and medium-sized enterprises development, indigenous people’s rights, compensation in IIAs and environment protection.
