The APEC Secretariat, established on 5 February 1993 in Singapore, is housed at Heng Mui Keng Terrace, situated on the fringe of the National University of Singapore and Science Park, in close proximity to several international organisations and think tanks.
Since its inception, the Secretariat staff strength has grown with APEC's expanding membership and agenda, reflecting the latter's growing importance in the international arena. The Executive Director leads a dynamic and committed team of over 70 staff who come from APEC's 21 member economies which span four continents. Work at the Secretariat is broad, varied and challenging. Staff members support more than 70 fora and are exposed to a wide range of issues in the areas such as trade and investment liberalization, human resource development, intellectual property rights, sustainable development, climate change and telecommunications. They are also engaged in project management as well as corporate management including policy analysis, programming, communications and stakeholder engagement, finance, information technology and administration.
The Secretariat provides the best possible support to APEC, which aims to make a lasting and positive difference to the lives of the 2.7 billion people living in the Asia-Pacific. To do so, it recruits the sharpest and most creative and committed women and men from the region, who share its core values, to join its ranks. Successful candidates will be offered a competitive remuneration package as well as the opportunity to work in an enriching multicultural environment.
