The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented disruptions in the food supply chain, and has put APEC’s food systems under stress.  Lockdowns, labor shortage, border controls and closures of different establishments have worsened food loss and waste.  Tackling this problem required a mixture of strategic responses, for example, collaboration throughout the food supply chain, cross-border movement for emergency goods and services, and adoption of digital technologies through public-private partnership.  To better promote the minimization of food loss and waste during the pandemic, the virtual Workshop Reducing Food Loss and Waste along the Food Value Chain in APEC during and post- COVID-19 Pandemic was held from 30 June 30 to 2 July 2021. This report summarizes the proceedings of the event and the results of the post-workshop survey.  It also briefly presents the results of a pre-meeting survey on challenges in and measures to minimize food loss and waste during the pandemic.
