This report details the advantages and potential disadvantages to the development of disaggregated networks and open telecommunications architecture among APEC members, both in terms of the economic and social benefits open architecture can bring. The report further describes some of the technical elements of open architecture, as well as compares it to existing proprietary telecommunications systems.
